NOTE: These instructions are only for those with an existing licensing agreement. You may need to follow the setup steps if you have purchased a new computer to use as a server with your license. No new contracts are being issued for Trackwrestling local servers.
Setting Up the Local Server
- If you have not already set up your local server, you will need to follow the Setting Up A Local Server instructions by clicking here, or you can find them in the help section of our home page. This step will only need to be done the first time you set up the computer as your local server and can be skipped for additional events.
Updating the Local Server
- You will need to update your local server each time you run an event. Click here for instructions, or you can find them in the help section of our home page.
- NOTE: A one-time manual patch installation is required for the 2024-25 scoring update. If you did not do this during the 2024-25 season, please follow the steps below. This must be done on every device being used as a local server, not just on one device associated with your license.
- Download patch script: https://trackwrestling-production-downloads.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/TW_Patch_20241206.bat
- Right-click script and "Run as Administrator"
- Go through normal
TW_UpdateServer.bat
update process
Downloading a Tournament to the Local Server
- You will need to download each event you run to your local server. Click here for instructions, or you can find them in the help section of our home page.
Set Your Password Invalid Online
- Immediately after downloading your event, you should set your administrator password(s) to be invalid online. Log in to your tournament on your local server and start the sync system from the Admin Dashboard page under the Operating menu. Go to Users in the Left Menu. Click on Administrators and then click the blue link next to each administrator that says Valid Online. Clicking this will change the link so it says Invalid Online. Repeat this with all administrators in your tournament.
- Do NOT mark worker logins invalid online. This may prevent videos from archiving.
Networking The Local Server
For the purpose of this document, we will use a.b.c.x to represent whatever network you are using. You should just replace the a.b.c values with those specific to your network.
- Start out with everything powered off and disconnected.
- If you have a hardline internet connection. You will plug it into the router using the UPLINK slot.
- NOTE: The UPLINK slot will be labeled to be easily identified and is only used for a hardline internet connection.
- Plug in the battery backup, and then plug the router into the battery backup.
- Power on the router.
- Wait for the lights to come on and stop blinking. (Basically, give it time to start up and initialize itself.)
- Power on the local server computer.
- Connect the local server to the router with an Ethernet cable.
- Configure your local server's static IP settings. On your local server, go to Network and Sharing Center => Change adapter settings. Right-click on the Local Area Connection and select Properties. Click on IPv4 and then click the Properties button. Assign a static IP address by clicking on the button to Use the following IP address and entering a.b.c.101. The subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0. These two settings should not change regardless of your setup.
- If you have a hardline internet connection to your router and are syncing through the same hardline connection:
- Then, the Local Area Connection Default gateway and Preferred DNS on your local server should both be a.b.c.1. You should also disable your Wireless Network Connection.
- If you DO NOT have a hardline internet connection and will be syncing through a wireless signal on your local server:
- Then, the Local Area Connection Default gateway and Preferred DNS on your local server should both be left blank. Be sure that the Wireless Network Connection is enabled and that you are connected to the appropriate wireless signal. The IP address can be obtained automatically/dynamically.
- If you DO NOT have a hardline internet connection and will be syncing from a computer other than your server:
- Then, the Local Area Connection Default gateway, and Preferred DNS on the local server should both be left blank. You should also disable the server's Wireless Network Connection. Connect the computer you will be syncing from to the router/switch using an Ethernet cable, and go to the Local Area Connection IPv4 properties. Assign a static IP address by clicking on the button to Use the following IP address and entering a.b.c.102. The subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0. The Local Area Connection Default gateway, and Preferred DNS should both be left blank. You should also be sure the Wireless Network Connection is enabled and that you are connected to the appropriate wireless signal. The IP address can be obtained automatically/dynamically.
- If you have a hardline internet connection to your router and are syncing through the same hardline connection:
- Start Tomcat on the local server (TW_StartServer.bat). You will be prompted to start the sync system, and should do so at this time if you are syncing from the local server. Select 'tw' as the server to sync to.
- NOTE: If you are syncing from another computer, you should start Tomcat on your local server without starting the sync system. You will need to get the remote_synch.zip file found on your local server (c:twsoftware/trackwrestling) and copy it to the computer you will be syncing from. Unzip it and run the remote sync (MonoRemoteSynch.bat). Enter a.b.c.101 as the host name of the local server and 'tw' as the server to sync to.
- Be sure that the sync system is only running once.
- Go to http://localhost:8080/examples/jsp/trackwrestling. Log in to your event to ensure the local server is up and working properly.
- If you are using a switch at your head table, you should plug it into a battery backup.
- Connect your switch to the router using an Ethernet cable.
- If you are using Trackwrestling clocks as access points, you should connect them now. Run the Ethernet cable from the router or switch to each clock/access point.
- Make sure each of your access points is plugged into a battery backup and turn them on.
- Plug each of the remaining score clocks into a power source and turn them on.
- Connect each of your matside controllers to the correct score clock by plugging one end of the yellow crossover cable into the Ethernet slot on the controller and the other end into the slot on the clock labeled 'Ethernet'. If the clock needs to be further away, you can use a coupler to connect an Ethernet cable to the crossover cable.
- On your local server, go to Users in your left menu and then Matside Configs. Click the Add Config button, select the wrestling style, and then click Save. Enter the IP address of your local server and then click OK.
- You should now see your tournament entry listed. Click the Generate Config File button, type generate when prompted, and then click OK.
- Go to each matside controller and be sure they are connected wirelessly to the correct access point, depending on your setup. You should have 4-8 computers connected to each access point, and the number connected to each access point should be as even as possible. Nothing else should connect wirelessly to the access points.
- Right-click on the time/date and adjust if necessary. Be sure that every computer you are using has the same date and time. The time zone should always be CT (Central), but you can adjust the computer times if necessary.
- Go to the desktop on each matside controller and click on the 'controller folder' (not the zip file) and then run Update Controller. Use the IP address of your local server when asked.
- Click on the Controller icon on the desktop. Select your event from the list on the Matside Controller Configurations page, and then select Yes when asked if you are connected to a physical clock. Verify that the clock IP address is 10.26.13.101 and click Continue. You should now be logged in and can select your mat to begin scoring matches.
- NOTE: Matside controller instructions and video can be found here.
- Administrative and worker computers can be logged into the local server by going to http://a.b.c.101:8080/tw.
